"Dear Amelia..."

There was only one thing that could keep Circle of Friends team captain Tanya Nordhaus from riding this year - the birth of her daughter Amelia Claire. But Tanya and Amelia were there at the start and finish lines both days. It prompted us to wonder how long it would be before she could join us on the ride. The answer came quickly: twelve years.

We wrote a letter to the two-week-old, explaining why we ride and what we expect when she joins us on the road. "Dear Amelia..." is our open letter to the next generation of Circle of Friends riders and volunteers.

Our other video segments describe how the Circle of Friends team began and grew over the last decade and how we train today. It begins with "2/20" - the story of the day Tanya (Roycraft) Nordhaus was diagnosed with MS and the pledge she made that morning to continue riding in the annual, 150-mile bicycling events. It continues with "Pink Helmet," where we learn some of the challenges she faces, completing these rides while contending with her MS symptoms. "Meet Pam Anderson" describes a typical training ride while "150 Miles in 150 Seconds" is a look at the 2008 MS-150 ride.

We've included the video that Circle of Friends produced to honor a hero from rides past - Kevin Degen. We were proud to share the road with this remarkable man and deeply saddened when we lost him last August, 2010.
